The main functions of using silica Matting Agent in acrylic coating as below.

1) Improving mechanical properties: According to the research, adding silica matting agent into acrylic coating can enhance

mechanical properties including tense strengthness and hardeness. When the silica matting agent's

content is added, the chemical properties of acrylic coating is better which can improve coating's washability.

2) Improving coating's adhesion and weather resistance: adding silica matting agent into industrial outdoor coating can obviously

enhance coating's adhesion and weather resistance. For example, adding 2% silica matting

agent can enhance the adhesion of exterior wall paint reaches its best state, and the hardness is optimal at 3%.

3) Enhancing optical properties: amorphous silica has good optical properties when used in varnishes because its refractive index is

similar to that of most resins, making it the first choice for high-end coating matting agents. It can reduce the specular reflectivity

of light on the surface of the paint film and play a matting role.

4) Improving heating resistance and anti-aging properties: nano particle size silica matting agent has strong UV

radiation and infrared reflection characteristics by forming shielding effect.

5) Improving coating's flow speed and disperation: silica matting agent can be used as rheological additives and dispersants improve

the rheological properties of the coating and the optical properties of the dry film, and also improve the bonding strength between

the coating and the substrate.

6) Anti-settling and anti-caking: silica has the functions of anti-settling and anti-caking, and can form a dense silicate film in the

coating, thereby improving the adhesion between the coating and the substrate.
