Is it better to use Silica Matting Agent with organic surface treatment?

Matting powder treated with mixed organic raw materials: The anti-settling function will be better. As the storage time of the paint increases,

the matting powder will show stratification and sedimentation to a certain extent, but this is only a short time. If the time is too long, it will

still settle.

Generally used in varnish, wax-treated matting powder is added to the varnish to prevent sedimentation and hardening, and it is well compatible

with solvent-based paint systems, and will not cause heavy floating adhesion problems. On the contrary, it also increases the scratch resistance

of the paint film. The disadvantage is that the matting powder treated with wax has a slightly poor matting property and the paint film has a slightly

poor light transmittance. The untreated one is cheap and has a good matting degree.

If untreated silica is to be applied to coatings, its degree of structuring and uniformity of particle size distribution need to meet extremely high

requirements. The choice of Matting Agent still needs to be determined by its specific performance in its own system. There is no good one, only

suitable one.
