M46 silicon dioxide

Since the invention of continuous inkjet technology by a Stanford University professor in the 1960s, the development of inkjet

printers has been changing with each passing day. Compared with laser printing technology, inkjet printing technology is popular

among the public for its non-contact, low noise, high speed, low cost and easy colorization. Therefore, inkjet printing technology

has become a hot topic for scholars in recent years.

Application of silicon dioxide in ink-absorbing coatings. However, with the development of inkjet printing technology, the market

has put forward higher requirements for inkjet printing receiving materials (printing materials), and the overall effect requirements

are as follows.

1. Ink absorption: During inkjet printing, once the ink droplets contact the material surface, they immediately interact with the receiving

material surface. How to make the ink dry and fixed on the paper in the shortest time is crucial to the quality of the printed image.

Therefore, the inkjet printing receiving material must have excellent ink absorption performance.

2. Dot diameter and dot roundness: The controllability of the dot diameter and dot roundness of inkjet printing, and the small and

uniform deviation between dots are very important. If the dot diameter is too large or the diameter cannot be controlled, the area

percentage of the dot and the comprehensive printing density will change, reducing the color rendering of the image. If the

roundness of the dot is too poor, it will interfere with the entire image and reduce the picture quality.

3. Image printing density: In addition to the factors of the ink itself, the optical density and color vividness of the inkjet printed image,

from the perspective of the inkjet printing receiving material, is to use a material with a large absorption coefficient and a small scattering

coefficient as the coating of the receiving material. On the other hand, since the color rendering of the inkjet printed image is based on

the principle of subtractive color mixing, the ink-absorbing layer scattering coefficient is also required to obtain a bright color image.

4 Image preservation: The so-called image preservation refers to the image's certain water resistance and light resistance, the indoor

and outdoor preservation of the image, and the preservation of the receiving material.

In order to meet the above requirements, people generally use receiving materials with ink-absorbing coatings to improve the recording

characteristics of the receiving material and the image preservation. In the past, people often coated polyvinyl alcohol resin on the printing

material, but although this treatment has a higher clarity, the ink absorption speed is slow. In order to increase its ink absorption speed and

further improve its clarity, the current mainstream approach is to add filler silica (SiO2) to the resin.

At present, due to its porous structure and good whiteness, SiO2 has been widely recognized by the market as an ink absorbent in the

coating of inkjet printing media. It not only has a fast absorption speed and a large absorption amount for water-based inks, but also can

improve the controllability of dot diameter and dot roundness. At the same time, it can also reduce the scattering coefficient of the ink

absorption layer and increase the concentration of the image.
